Do I have to pay for admission even though I am getting a service (ex: scrub, massage, facial)?

  • Yes, all guests who book a service will be required to purchase a general admission pass to enter the facility.

What does general admission include?

  • General admission provides guests access to the following amenities (listed below)

    • Uniform & Towel: 1 set per guest
    • 2 Personal Lockers: 1 shoe locker & 1 full-size locker
    • Saunas: 6 Dry Sauna, 1 Aroma Steam Sauna , 1 Ice Sauna
    • Bath House: Standing/Sitting Showers, 3 Hot Baths, 1 Cooling Bath (gender-separated spaces)
    • Cafe Island: Serving Korean-American fusion food (vegetarian & pescatarian options available)
    • Juice Bar: Serving smoothies, pressed juices, bingsoos, bubble tea, milkshakes & more
    • Lounging Area(s): Sleeping room, media room, & more
    • Complimentary Toiletries: Toothpaste, body wash, hair wash, & more
    • Wi-Fi: Our Wi-Fi password to access this feature is available on signages placed throughout the facility!

I have an expired admission pass from a 10x Admission Passes Bundle for $290. May I still redeem it?

  • Yes, however, a slight upcharge will be placed on the ticket in order to match our current admission price (policy active as of January 6th, 2020)

Can I purchase Gift Cards, admission passes, or Island Spa service packages online?

What if I want to send a gift card to someone?

  • Under the "Shop" section of our website, guests have the option to purchase and email an e-gift card digitally to themselves or a different recipient. However, we, unfortunately, do not ship physical gift cards at the moment.

With my admission pass can I come in and out of the spa?

  • No, it’s one pass per entry. Re-entry with the same ticket is not permitted.

With the purchase of an admission how long can I stay for?

  • You are more than welcome to hang out from 9:00AM-11:00PM with us!

Are you open 24 hours?

  • Unfortunately, we do not offer any overnight stays. Our standard operating hours are 9:00 AM - 11:00 PM.

Are you open during holidays?

  • Yes, we are open all holidays. 365 days a year!

Can I bring my cell phone, tablet, or laptop?

  • Yes, you can bring your mobile devices and laptops into the facility; we just ask no phone or electronics be used in the bathing areas & locker room for our guests' privacy. Island Spa & Sauna reserves the right to confiscate any recording materials under due suspicion.

NOTE: Please turn off your ringer so it does not disturb other guests.

+ SPA ETIQUETTE & FACILITIES

What if I want to bring my own brand new flip flops?

  • No outside footwear is allowed into our facility; you can bring socks or opt to go barefoot. Our floors are heated and cleaned for maximum comfort! We also sell lounge slippers as well that can be worn in the facility.

Do I have to wear the uniform you provide?

  • For sanitary purposes, we ask that all guests who want to use our facility to wear the uniform we provide (cotton t-shirts & cotton shorts), this includes wearing them in the dry saunas as well. They are washed with fragrance free and gentle detergent.

What about bringing my own toiletries?

  • Sure, you can bring your own toiletries. However, no oils, milk, mud, and hair dyes are allowed.

Are bathing suits allowed in the bath tubs?

  • Following traditional Korean Spa culture, all guests will be required to be fully nude in our gender-separated bath house spaces. Due to this, no bathing suits will be allowed in the baths.

NOTE:

  • For the spa to maintain a sanitary environment (ie: securely monitor water quality and chemical balance), all guests will be required to shower before entering our baths.
  • The bathing area is a part of the locker room which is separated by gender. It is NOT co-ed.

Is there any place that is co-ed throughout your facility?

  • Of course, the dry saunas, sleeping room, media rooms, Cafe Island, lounging area, & juice bar are all co-ed.

I am a transgender person. How can I utilize the facility?

  • Island Spa is devoted to creating a welcoming environment for anybody looking to relax and experience the Korean style spa culture. We do not discriminate against transgender people and gender identities. You may use the locker and bathing area consistent to your gender identity. There are staff members in all rooms of the facility available to give assistance and ensure that guests are treating one another with respect. If any guest appears to be harassing or endangering any other guest, our staff is trained to intervene and ensure that any situation is addressed with a focus on safety and comfort for all members. Please keep in mind that our nude bathing area which has no bathing suits allowed is an optional section of our facility.

NOTE: Island Spa has gender neutral restrooms on site, located in the Front Desk area. For all other restrooms, you are free to use in accordance to how you identify.

+ SPA SERVICES

How early do I need to make my appointment for spa services (ie: scrub, facial, massage, yoni steam)?

  • We recommend making your appointment at least 3 days in advance. You must arrive at least 30 minutes prior to your appointment time to avoid cancellation.

Is there a cancellation fee for appointments?

  • Service cancellation notifications given at least 12 hours prior to scheduled appointments will receive no charges. Service cancellation notifications given less than 12 hours prior to scheduled appointments will result in a 25% charge of the reserved service price. Failure to show up for scheduled appointments will result in a 100% charge of the reserved service price.

Can I reschedule my appointment?

  • As long as you are contacting us at least 12 hours prior to your scheduled appointment, you may reschedule your appointment with no penalty. However, if notice is given within the 12 hour cancellation period then the appointment may only be moved once. Afterwards, the new appointment cannot be further altered or cancelled without a 25% fee with prior notice or a 100% fee with failure to show up for the scheduled appointment. To clarify, once an appointment is rescheduled in this way there will be no option for cancellation or rescheduling without a charge.

Loved my therapist, how could I leave them extra gratuities?

  • Thanks for the love; all spa services include the gratuity already. But if you want to show extra appreciation you can leave the gratuity with our front desk and they will make sure your therapist gets it. Or you can give it to your therapist after your service.

How long are the services and what do they include?

  • All service durations are listed under our the "Spa Services" tab on our website. The service time includes preparation and change time including the service itself.

If I’m pregnant can I use the saunas or get any of the services?

  • We ask that you must check with your doctor first before coming to use the saunas and baths. Due to high risk, the only services we offer to pregnant women are our prenatal massages and 30-minute facials. Please talk to your healthcare provider before booking to be safe!

Where does the body scrubs happen?

  • All body scrubs take place in a separate partitioned area of the bathing area.

Are the body massages in a private room?

  • Yes, all of our body massages happen on the 2nd floor in private rooms. You can request for a female or male therapist. Couple rooms are also available for no extra charge.

Are the oils used during the massage and body scrubs hypoallergenic?

  • Yes, the oils are indeed hypoallergenic.

I have a favorite therapist, can I request for them any time I come for a service?

  • No problem, we can handle that as long as you remember to let us know the therapist’s name when making the reservation. We will then be able to see if they are available that day and time.

Can I bring my own scrub towel for body scrub service?

  • No, technicians for body scrubs use a special professional scrub glove.

What services do you have available for couples?

  • We offer couples body massage and couples foot massage only. The general co-ed sauna areas are great places for couples to spend time together as well.

Can I choose whether I receive a female or male therapist for my service?

  • Yes, you may request the gender of your therapist for body massages if there is availability. However, all foot reflexology and chair massages are done by male therapists only. Body scrubs are done by therapists of your same gender in the respective locker rooms.

+ FOOD & BEVERAGES

Can I bring my own food?

  • No outside food is allowed. We have a restaurant in our facility that serves delicious Korean style meals and snacks at the juice bar.

How about birthday cakes?

  • Outside cakes and only cakes are allowed for birthdays or other events with a $5 fee. We will provide forks and plates for you from the Juice Bar.

Do you offer kosher meals?

  • At this time we do not offer any kosher meals.

What if I have an allergy to soy & gluten?

  • When you order your food at the restaurant please make sure to remind the staff of any allergies. Most of our traditional Korean meals might contain: Wheat., fish, dairy, eggs, soy, and nuts

Are there any vegan options?

  • We currently do not offer any vegan options at our restaurant.

Are there any gluten-free options?

  • We currently do not offer any gluten-free options at out restaurant.

Is there alcohol served there? Or can we bring our own alcohol?

  • There is no alcohol served here at our spa for health concerns. Alcohol is also not allowed to be brought into the facility. Anyone under the influence of alcohol will be denied entrance. This is for everyone and for your safety as well.

+ CHILDREN & FAMILY DAYS

I have kids, does your facility have daycare services?

  • Sorry, we do not offer any daycare services.

Are children allowed in the spa and what is the admission fee for children?

  • Children under the age of 10 are not permitted during regular business days (On specific Family days, Island Spa will allow all ages to enter) Children 10 & above are welcome but they must be accompanied by the same gender adult.
  • Children 4 & above will be charged the same admission fee as adults.
  • Infants that are 3 & under will not be charged an admission fee & may go into the opposite gender locker room with their guardian.

+ PARKING & TRANSPORTATION

Is there parking available at your spa?

  • Yes, we have a free parking lot available.

Is your facility located by any nearby transportation services?

  • Yes, our facility is walking distance from the Edison NJ train station.

+ REFUNDS & RETURNS

  • All admissions, product, and service sales are final. Any dissatisfaction after service was completed will not be honored or lead to a refund whatsoever. If dissatisfied, you must let us know within the first 5 minutes of the service.
  • Additional non-returnable items: gift cards, admission and service passes, online specials, health and personal care retail products, food and beverages.
  • If a credit or a refund for something other than the above was issued and you haven’t received a refund yet, please wait 5-7 days. There is often some processing time before a refund is posted. If you’ve done all of this and you still have not received your refund yet, please contact us at [assistance@islandspasauna.com]
  • We will only replace retail items if they are defective or damaged. If you need to exchange it for the same item, send us an email at [assistance@islandspasauna.com] and please wait for confirmation before bringing your item in.
